Hello Steem moderators and @themarkymark,

I received this threatening memo, which is disturbing. Please let me know what I need to do in this case.

Here is more proof

I hope someone can put a stop to this abusive behavior.

This is bad for the entire Steemit platform, especially for new users who might be scared away.

Thank you in advance for your support.

There's a lot of misunderstanding here that's worth explanation given that it's currently a hot topic.
One of the great features of Steem is its decentralization, which means that there are no "admins" or "moderators" able to stop any content from appearing on Steem. That includes such "campaigns" as you just saw. Purely stupid (someone apparently being angry and against the downvotes threatens to .. downvote if blah blah).
Don't be scared, community responded well, besides effective voting power, after being split among all who votes for @themarkymark will no longer be that impressive ;-)

Hi @gtg, thanks for that explanation. However, such a system needs to have a way to filter out such things. What if someone posted illegal content for example? That could threaten the entire platform unless there was a way to block malicious people or at least filter them some way.

Certain front-ends and their operators can decide (based on their jurisdiction) to block or not given content.

@gtg :)

Good morning,

@steemit platform needs to find a solution to the downvote war. This war can harm @steemit future.

Also, this war has become a fashion, open false accounts and they do whatever they want without anyone who seems to be willing to address it, let alone to actually try to find a real solution and finish definitely. You seem to think that this is more of a feature of a decentralized platform than a bug, which is part of the problem. Many people consider this a real problem, but when people come along and say it's not, don't worry about it, then the problem only gets worse.

I hope that we will find together a healthy solution and we can build a beautiful successful future here on @steemit.

Have a beautiful day!

Hi @themarkymark, thanks for replying. Is there anything that can be done to stop people like that?
