Okay, so the Republicans decide that Trump is still their boy.

I cannot speak for every Never Trumper. But I will speak for myself. There are things I do not want to hear from my conservative friends in the next few months.

  1. It’s a binary choice. You have to pick Trump or Biden. It was not a binary choice in the primaries. You had options of people who are truly pro-life (Such as Haley or Scott) and one who not only endorses Trump’s ideas but is effective in implementing them (DeSantis). You chose, or at least did not resist, Trump. So when we remove your candidate from consideration it was because you insisted on keeping him in the primaries.

  2. We had to nominate Trump to win. Bull. I fully admit that right now Trump would beat Biden if the vote was held today. But we still have several months to go and Trump is certainly a person who can lose that advantage. You supported someone under criminal indictment and a history of insulting large swaths of people You could have had someone like Haley. Indeed, if Haley were nominated the Democrats would be crapping in their pants right now because the election would be over. If Trump loses it is because Republicans stick with him no matter what. Not because of never-Trumpers.

  3. Trump says mean things, but he has a great agenda. Then why did not take DeSantis? DeSantis actually does the things Trump advocates without the level of dehumanization that Trump brings. The refusal to support DeSantis over Trump shows me that his crudeness is not a bug of his leadership but a feature. Fine if that is what you want but know that you choose to keep that “bug” when you had options to do otherwise.

  4. How can you not vote for Trump when the lives of the unborn are at stake? Have you heard? Trump is moving more into the Pro-choice realm. And he will drag the Republican party with him. I do appreciate the overturning of Roe but now we need to attend to the culture, something we cannot do with Trump. One of the reasons why I always opposed him is because I feared that he would corrupt one of the issues that I liked about conservatives on abortion. And those fears are coming true.

So to be clear I have no interest in conservatives making these arguments in the coming months. If they want Trump so badly they can have him. But people like me will never support him. Do not cry if Trump loses in November when with the right candidate the Republicans have an excellent chance to take the presidency and put up strong numbers in both houses. Maybe they still will do that, but it will be without the help of people like me.
