It seems the Shiva Sena-led Maharashtra Government is in no mood to honour the democratic values and press freedom. The recent event against the Republic Media Networks shows its desperation. Singling out Republic, the Mumbai police is framing the laughable charges against the Republic Media. Curbing the press freedom is one of the tested and failed approach of dictators. It won't work in the present day world. At the same time, Republic Media also should understand its responsibilities. While reporting, they shouldn't mix 'sensationalism.' Otherwise, again and again they'll end-up in the bitter tussle like this. Gone are the days, the reporters try to painstakingly gather information and present it in an indisputable manner. Now, it looks like those values are gone. In the fast-paced today's world, your viewership and ratings are very important to make more money. That is the sorry state of our media. Understanding this truth, Republic should restrain itself and report the truth at all times. Otherwise, it will become one-more 'run-of-the-mill' media.
