The Panda

There are quite a few Chinese Restaurants in Bendalmadena – all within walking distance of each other – about eight in my area that I know of, at last count.

Being Chinese, I was keen to know how and what their food was like. As expected, they taste quite different from those back home. I guess they are catered more to the local flavour. The menus of all the restaurants are very similar. They carry more or less the same dishes.

My favourite Chinese restaurant is the Restaurante Chino Panda, or affectionately known as The Panda. The service staff are friendly and I like the idea of eating out on the courtyard. The restaurant seems to be quite a favourite with the tourists too. Whenever we dine there, they were always rather busy.

This is a ‘make-up’ picture. I had meant to take a picture of the food when they arrived but being one who has never bothered with food pics, it was half way through the meal that I realized I had forgotten to take pictures for my post.

So, here’s what I had for this particular visit. Fried rice, roast duck and stir-fried bean sprouts. I know, they don’t look very exciting. But the fried rice was okay, the bean sprouts were okay – what can go wrong with fried rice and stir-fried bean sprouts right? But the roast duck, although it look dry and tough was surprisingly tender and good. A bit on the salty side, but never mind, I will quench my thirst with a pint of San Miguel – or two.
