Viva Mercado's Mexican Restaurant

Today we decided to hook up with my husband for lunch. He and a few coworkers have been wanting to try a new Mexican restaurant down the street so we decided to check it out.

Viva Mercado's is located at 3553 South Rainbow Boulevard. I believe the building they're in now used to be a Sizzler, for those who have also been around for a few years!

We didn't have a wait and were taken right back to our table. It was a corner booth and the table actually didn't seem to fit - it was too small so we had to do some rearranging between us and the kids so we wouldn't have to lean forward to eat.

Multi-colored tortilla chips, salsa and bean dip were brought out quickly and our orders were taken. Overall the service was fantastic - I don't think we've ever had waitstaff who were so attentive before, and our waiter joked with the kids, which was nice. Most places only seem to tolerate kids.

The food was good. Standard rice and beans came with everything and my aguacate torta (avocado sandwich) was delicious, though there were a ton of onions on it. I was only able to manage half of it and look forward to the leftovers!

The kids' meals were bigger than a lot of other places serve and the girls filled up. Usually my oldest is asking to order off the adult menu but the kids' was plenty. My husband got the two item combo plate and could only manage half of it as well.

I will say we've had better Mexican food elsewhere, but the service at Viva Mercado's was probably the best we've had anywhere.
