Melting Point - Restaurant Review #1
By @pierces550 & @bendjmiller222
Hello Steemit! Today I went with my friend @bendjmiller222 to try gourmet grilled cheese at a new restaurant called Melting Point. You can't go wrong with grilled cheese, so already I was eager to see what type of cheesy goodness awaited me.
Melting point is a small local restaurant with ICE (See our terrible restaurant review about a restaurant that served us drinks without ice HERE)
There were about five seats inside, along with two or three seats outside. There were two people working the counter and while there was not much interior decoration, it was nice and comfortable.
There are about ten or fifteen different types of grilled cheese on the menu along with a few soups and a number of specialty sodas, including ginger beer.
I knew immediately that they valued cleanliness (the lack of is one of my pet peeves). The man taking the orders that rang up the items and cashed us out proceeded to wash his hands before making our order. This should be commonplace for all workers, but I have had more than a few experiences where a cook visibly made our order without cleaning his or her hands.
I ordered a three cheese grilled cheese sandwich, consisting of cheddar, jack, and gouda with spinach, caramelized onions, and grilled chicken and a bowl of basil tomato soup. My friend @bendjmiller222 ordered a three cheese sandwich, choosing smoked gouda, cheddar and jack cheeses along with a pesto sauce and caramelized onions.
The food arrived quickly on a cool metal mini pizza looking plate and had cheese melting out the sides and looked grilled to perfection. Once I picked it up, the look on my face must have been priceless. The first and subsequent bites took me to heaven for a brief moment.
The cheese was melted perfectly and we eagerly urged one another to try our own sandwich. The bread was buttered and toasted just right and had a satisfying crunch to it.
The only part I would have changed was that the chicken was not quite as flavorful as I had wished, but this was by no means an experience killer.
The tomato basil was another wonderful concoction and was clearly not a soup that can be found on the shelf at a local supermarket. This was made from scratch with the right amount of basil, a little spice and something sweet that could likely have been a small dose of honey.
And as anyone who truly enjoys grilled cheese knows, dipping it in tomato soup adds a whole new flavor level to the experience.
Needless to say, we left the restaurant with big smiles and "thank you's" to those responsible for our delicious food.
the looks delicious!

It's so good! There are so many great restaurants in Buffalo, but this made a great impression as "comfort food" at its finest :)
