When writing a cover letter for software engineering position, it always becomes a pain in the neck.
Today, I found an excellent advice on Youtube, so summed up a main 3 points of the video.

In this youtube, it was discussed that three things should be written in the cover letter.
1. Why you want to work for us, the company?
- Did you check out our cite?
- Why do you want to work here?
- It there any specific technology?
- Have you learned about our people?
An important key word is that:
Spend the time to individualize your cover letter.
2. What motivates you, the person?
- What is it that makes you tick?
- Is it like, you want to learn?
- You want to have an impact?
- You want to learn about a specific technology?
- You want to be surrounded by great people?
3. Tell us something about you that isn't on your resume and that is still important about you
For example,
- That could be that you work well with others
- That could be that you're the one that stayed late and taught everybody in your class when they were having trouble
- You're obsessed with a certain technology
It could be long, but keep it short, keep it straightforward
