This game was released by Microsphere in 1984 on the Spectrum and I think I picked it up on the C64 in 1985 after it was a huge unexpected success.
I have a feeling this is a very British-centric game, I don't know if this made it accross the pond. I've mentioned before how early 8-bit games tended to be quick, very short 5-10 minute games so I presume Skooldaze's success was due to the fact it was one of the very first sandbox type games released. You could spend a couple of hours messing about on this game without even playing it properly.
You control Eric around his school and the ultimate goal is to steal his report out of the school safe. I must admit I never completed this or got very far, but did enjoy wandering around a virtual school mostly causing trouble and writing naughty words on the blackboard.
You could also change the names of the teachers in the game, so of course 12 year old me put all my own teachers names!
On booting up an emulated copy recently, I have to say the game hasn't aged well for me despite this, especially on the Spectrum being regarded as one of the best games for that machine.
Rather than mess about in the school I tried to play this properly and there are honestly times when literally nothing happens and you have to wait to leave class and it is pretty boring frankly.
Definitely a game of its time, and especially on the C64 one which has not aged well.
