After Nintendo revived the gaming industry as a whole with the NES, creating one of the most popular game consoles ever. They had to take their next console to the next level. Double the graphics capability, double the processing power and memory, they simply called their next generation console the 'Super Nintendo Entertainment System', more commonly known as the SNES.
Though I loved the NES and is still my favourite today, the SNES was amazing and equably enjoyable to play.
Here is another top 5 of my favourite games I played on the SNES.
5 – Lemmings;- Even though this game was available long before the SNES on other consoles, the re-release had improved graphics, better sound quality and more actions. A simple strategy/puzzle game that could be played many different ways. The idea is to safely navigate obstacles and save all the lemmings, well, as many as you can. Very enjoyable, if addictive game.
4 – Donkey Kong Country II;- The sequel to its ever popular predecessor, the sliding platform game pushed the SNES graphic capability to its limit. High detail graphics, very fun gameplay, they added new enemies to fight, harder bosses to beat, but not so hard it would piss you off. Very simple concept that will keep you hooked for hours.
3 – Super Mario World;- Another title by Nintendo, and another edition to the Mario franchise. You didn't expect me not to include it in this list did you? The same style of game but much richer in colour and graphics, the introduction of Yoshi and the ability to go back and play worlds you have already completed to get a higher score if you wished. Easily worthy to be in anyone's top 5 games.
2 – Star Fox;- A massive game, and by that, I mean the levels were huge and there was loads of them. Even though the graphics weren't that great and sometimes patchy. The 3d flight/combat simulator was fantastically popular. The game could get frustrating at times when you crashed into block or got hit too many times and died. But once you defeated a level, it was very satisfying.
1 – Street Fighter II Turbo;- easily the best 2 player game to rival mortal kombat. A very simple fighting martial arts game, 3D animation and unique abilities for each player. Just like mortal kombat from the master system. Me and a group of friends would play , 'winner stays on' where we would have fights with each other, and if you lost, you lost the pad. No matter how long we played, we would never get board. This game has to be number 1 in my book.
The SNES proved to the world that Nintendo was the best games console maker in the world, and it could keep up with the demand of the consumers by delivering a console to rival anything else released at the time. Mine is still sat here on the shelf as a display item to remind me of the good times.
Hope you enjoyed reading.

Ooh I remember Star Fox, though only from the later game, Star Fox Adventures. I loved that game, because I had my own pet dinosaur :D
