Back in 1993, when laserdiscs were fading fast into obscurity, Pioneer released a video game consoles that used that media. You know what laserdiscs are, don't ya? They were those giant DVD-looking discs that were going to be the norm in 2015 according to Back To The Future 2. Then again, they were bundled with compact discs meant for the trash so... Pioneer released a system called LaserActive. A handful of games were released for this console, but Pioneer had hardware add-ons which allowed you to play Sega CD game discs and Genesis cartridges. Keep in mind that the base price for the LaserActive was almost a thousand dollars; adding hardware add-ons to play better video games would drive the price to almost $1,600! Check out this review and amazing photos of this quirky, rare system.
