I love this Cold Steel knife! | Video review

in review •  8 years ago

I wanted a reliable EDC.

Last year I finally purchased a high quality folding knife. My previous EDC knives have always been pretty inexpensive and not the best quality. I decided it was time I bought myself something that would hold up, and not fail on me.

I did some research

The first thing I did was a little investigating as to what would be the best value I could get. Something like Benchmade would be awesome, but the knives I like from them were a little out of my price range. I finally decided on Cold Steel. Their locking mechanism seemed to be even better than a Spyderco or Benchmade. The Tri-Ad lock which they have developed makes the knife a virtual fixed blade when locked open. This was the feature that sold me...and probably most people who buy from them. They make a big deal over it, but I think they should. It is absolutely amazing! Also, they have very reasonable prices on their knives which don't break the bank. They have a pretty decent selection of knife designs and styles. The one I ended up getting is their classic Recon 1.

Tested for 1 Year

Using the knife for a year now has given me time to see how well it works and lasts. So far I have been very impressed with the new CTS-XHP steel that they are using. It has held up surprisingly well. Sharpening is very easy and you get a razor edge with little effort.

I have enjoyed it so well that I made a VIDEO review of the Cold Steel Recon 1.

Hello @countrymusing. I am a new follower of yours. Nice blade man. Thanks for posting the review. A year is definitely enough time to evaluate the quality. I use a CRKT M16-04z. I've had it for about two years now. Haven't used it much to quality check its durability.

Thanks man I really appreciate it! I just gave you a follow. That looks like a pretty nice knife!
At first I was afraid to use mine too much as I didn't want to dull the blade or damage it somehow. But then I just decided to go ahead and give it some use. They said its a durable knife why not test it out? In the future I may pick up some more Cold Steel knives and do a hard use test video if enough would be interested in seeing that. Thanks again for stopping by!

Heck yeah man and thanks for the follow. I was checking out the Cold Steel katanas the other day. They appear to be solid. I watched a video where they were chopping the blade into a pig carcass. It went through like butter but when I read the reviews on amazon, they were mixed so I never pulled the trigger on getting one.

Nice review! Got any spinners?

Thank you! No I actually do not.
