I checked out weku, whaleshares and smoke.io when Steemit was down during the HF and i had to say I wasn't really impressed by either of them, they didn't offer much apart from the gimmick coin that they giving away with no value attached to it yet.
If they are to grow they will hit the same issues steemit did unless they come up with something truely unique that will attract users to want to contrubute a niche style of content to their site. Golos was one of the first steemit clones and well there not doing much of anything right now
But who knows Maybe it blows up maybe it doesn't but I'd rather be late and wrong then gotten in put effort in and wasted my time. All about how you see your opportunity costs really. To each their own.
