The History of Time Travel is a quirky science fiction mockumentary available on Amazon Prime. It purports to tell the tale of the invention of time travel, in case the title doesn't give that away.

I don't want to give away the plot, but I will say the gimmick that makes this movie what it is really works well. As soon as time travel is achieved in the story, the film immediately changes to reflect the changed timeline. Props, narration, and even the imterview subjects change instantly to reflect the altered history. The consequences of minor changes snowball into a dramatic climax, all within the same subdued history documentary presentation. It's quite the contrast in tone to what we expect. In fact, the pace of the entire program is deliberately slow to enhance the sense of documentary film rather than dramatic fiction. Despite this, there are enough silly moments to serve as a wink and a nod to the audience, too.
It's not laugh-out-loud funny, it's not edge-of-your-seat exciting, but it's a fun little low-budget sci-fi film with a few interesting ideas cleverly implemented. It reminds me a lot of some episodes of The Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits. Give it a watch if you can!
Hey, @jacobtothe.
I've become less of a fan of time travel over the years, but by your description, this actually sounds intriguing, in that it pretty much tells the tale as it would have to if there was someone messing around with the timeline. :) I like the subtitle up at the top there where it says, "Would we even notice?" In some stories, someone would, because of course, time is relative. :)

Time travel is rarely used well. I thought this was a fun way to spin it into the plot, though.

The title of the film immediately raised a question in my mind: how can one write a history of time travel, if time travel is constantly changing history? I'll have to watch the show!
