Soda Review

Double Cola is a Cola style soda pop made by The Double Cola Company in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Double Cola Company began in 1922 as the Good Grape Company, selling a popular Grape flavored soda beverage. In 1933 the Double Cola was created and became the company's flagship product which brought with it a re-branding of the company itself. It is found in the Southern portion of the United States. I recently picked up a bottle of Double Cola from The Soda Emporium to give it a try. It's a good soda made with real cane sugar instead of the processed artificial stuff.

The Bottle

The bottle of the Double Cola was a 12 fluid ounce, clear glass bottle. The cap has the words 'Drink Double Cola' as seen in the photo above. Below you can see the bottle. It's a very simple label, but it's nice.

The Soda

I poured the Double Cola into a glass and admired its bubbly carbonation which simmered away quickly. It is made with pure cane sugar which makes it not as syrupy as the mass-marketed sodas that use high-fructose corn syrup. It had a nice cola flavor, not too strong and not too light. When I saw the name Double Cola, I was expecting it to have a double-load of Cola flavor. Apparently it got the name because it contained more soda than the traditional sodas sold back in the day. Overall, it was a good cola. Perhaps I will try more beverages from The Double Cola Company in the future.
