The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

The Picture of Dorian Gray was a great read. The story is compelling and very original. I'd compare it to the likes of Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. It's quality reading with a melancholic darkness that enshrouds the words like a black mist.

The Picture of Dorian Gray is a classic amongst the classics. The language is rich and descriptive. If you're not moved in one way or the other, then there must be something terribly out of place.

It's a sad novel that has something for lovers of the classical period and even beyond. The Picture of Dorian Gray is a timeless work of art in my opinion.

My Score

9/10

This score is based on the originality of the storyline, emotional impact and imagery. Though timeless in its own way, I won't give it a solid 10 as I'm more an enthusiast of modern literature.

Oh yes, I loved this novel, it was such a well written work, and the themes are so interesting and so dark. Excess, vanity, fear and loathing.... Aaah, an absolute masterpiece <3 You're making me want to re-read it now, Jaundre <3 !
