The Legacy of Robert Mondavi Continues...2015 Cabernet Merlot

My Saturday night has been so exciting as I am watching the Season 4 opener of True Blood. Sookie Stackhouse and the fae (fairies) are enjoying lumiere, light fruit in their dimension that is like biting into pure happiness. Oh, how this parallels our world with its wonderful grapes that produce a promising and joyous drink!

To make up for the dispiriting let down of a wine from the other night, https://steemit.com/food/@love4forex/camelot-is-worth-something-to-cry-and-wine-about - I decided to go big...then go home...to enjoy it.

My very FIRST glass of wine was attributed to Robert Mondavi, back in 2000. Robert Mondavi 1998 Fume Blanc caused me to renege on my youthly promise that "alcohol is nasty and I will not have a taste of it!" Needless to say, I am a lush now (LOL) and I have followed the story of the Mondavi empire and am compelled to enjoy more of his wines.

Tonight, Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi 2015 Cabernet Merlot captivated my tastebuds. In the style of a 60/40 (60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot) blend that Mondavi has perfected, this wine was NOT oaky. Not every wine is oaky, fellow Steemians!

Carrying more traits of a medium bodied merlot, this blend possesses a deep purple hue that boasts its complex nature.

An astringent aroma greets you when first opened. Blueberries and vanilla nuances are your initial flavors. Over a period of time cherries and tar tickle your tastebuds with a leathery finish.

I rate this wine four stars because it is a blend that successfully carries the traits of every varietal in its "portfolio", making this a well-balanced and rounded wine.

Once again, in the style of Mondavi, the winemakers produce a red blend that tastes like nectar from the wine gods. Dionysus is smiling down from Mount Olympus as I savor the grape. I am smiling just the same!
