Review : “The Bad Touch” - CD single by Bloodhound Gang

Wow, it is already 20 years ago. Time flies for certain. Not that this is a high mark in music history or for the band itself for that matter. But I do remember fondly their “we dont give a f#@&” attitude and direct sexual references in most everything they did. I guess I like obscenity just for the sake of pulling taboos apart. I for one were never triggered by the likes of Bloodhound Gang, rather I cherish those few who point out the obvious no matter what others might think of it. BG did it with a nice portion of humour.

The song references how they “do it” on the Discovery Channel. Therefore you see two zebras engaged in that kind of “doing” on the cover of the CD. One thing we europeans may enjoy is the actual view of the male zebra’s penis, since the american version, as far as I know, had the space between the animals blacked out so that nothing was visible there ... you know to “protect” the kids and all.

The two additional remixes of the title track does not add anything interesting to the mix really. Then the fourth track “Along Comes Mary” track is a bit of rarity, a nice rocking one from a soundtrack. Lastly there is a video of “Kiss Me Where It Smells Funny”, though i cannot get it to work on my PC. Maybe it is no longer available due to many iterations of drivers and OS ??

The lyrics are hilarious, balancing the act fine of comparing sexual acts with commercial objects and other things to evoke the notions with out much exlicit expression. This works as fun lyrics but also to get away with more, by being less. As a movie reviewer myself I like the reference to Siskel and Ebert giving two thumbs “up” lol :-)
