Phone VR Headset review - VR SHINECON

in review •  7 years ago

So I recently bought a phone VR headset and now after using it for a while I want to share some of my thoughts about it with you.

It came in a cardboard box, nothing special there. You get the headset piece detached from the strings that hold it on your head and that is a little of a hustle until you get it on but nothing too important. It also comes with a cleaning cloth for the lenses.
It's made from pretty nice soft plastic and all the parts that will come in contact with your phone are rubberized

The part that sits against your face is made from soft foam and it has a nose cutout.

The lenses are pretty big and wide angled while being pretty clear. You can adjust them by depth and distance on top of the case.IMG_20170308_215519.jpg
From my experience the biggest drawback is that when you insert the phone there is now way to interact with the screen

And also the nose cutout is too small and the strips don't hold too well so after a longer period of use you will be left with a sore nose.

My ratings:
Comfort:6/10
Build quality:7/10
User experience:7/10
Lenses:8/10

Total:7/10
It is not bad, definitely interesting to try out and a good bargain for 5$. But I would really recommend going for something better for a bit more money and with this experience I know I would.

I mean if you bought it for 5$, that sound like a bargain to me.

I doubt a cheap headset like that will do gaming VR justice, but I am curious if watching movies on it will work as intended. Because if so, then I would say the product is worth its asking price. You know you use it when you're tired and just wanna sit and watch a movie on a beach or in an empty cinema hall, stuff like that. For five bucks? Having that sort of experience? Definitely worth it.

How did you find one so cheap btw? Did you get it second hand or as part of some bundle deal or something?

I got it of gearbest, and yeah it's pretty cool for movies, but you would need to put something to protect your nose, because it would hurt after 2h.

Based on your post. you are quite happy with it but it still need some improvement. I want to buy one for my son you recommand this one or you know a better one,

I mean if you have the money go for the samsung's vr headset but this one is fine to try different vr experiences.
