Goodbye, Gorgon!
The Inhuman royal family are all united once more… with the exception of their playful cousin, the head of the royal guard, Gorgon. And sadly, this seem to be his final end.
After Medusa and Black Bolt got together with Karnak and Gorgon at the end of last week’s episode, the four split up again, one party to find Crystal, and the other to rescue the humans Auran has held hostage –Dr Declan and Black Bolt’s friend, Sammy. Louise takes Medusa and Black Bolt and tracks down Crystal’s energy signature to the spot she landed, and then follow her lightning signals to find her, while Gorgon and Karnak head to Dr. Declan’s lab. With his powers still not completely reliable, Gorgon is the one to come up with a plan, and in a rare moment of insight, gives Karnak the one fact he needed to succeed –Auran still believes he is as powerful as ever. Unfortunately, this plan doesn’t go all that well for Gorgon himself. After disabling and rounding up Maximus’s soldiers, Gorgon sacrifices himself to take down Mordis, who attempts to kill them all so the rest can escape. And that was the end of the gentleman called Gorgon.
While the action scenes were passable, the discussions were slightly off-character. I still feel badly with Crystal’s and Dave’s treatment of Audrey after she diagnoses Lockjaw at the beginning of the episode. Yeah, she’s quite bitchy, but this episode just exaggerated that. I mean, she did come around when Dave asked for help, didn’t she? It’s not like they’re paying her. And Medusa being the one to tell Black Bolt to take it easy on Maximus’s punishment? The same woman who dealt with Auran in a much different fashion? The same man known for his tremendous restraint? And without a deadline, couldn’t they have all gone to look for Crystal before going together to deal with Auran? What’s the problem with dealing with her later, as Karnak says?
Meanwhile, on Attilan, Maximus crushes the opposition rebel group, but is scared deeply of his relatives remaining. He sends more help to Auran (which we never see in action, by the way) and kills his right hand man, Tyburr, and finally, starts to feel to audiences like the villain of the story.
