I have already recommended this show to three people, and I'm close to 'wasting' another day rewatching it. You don't even need to be a chess fan, or have any previous knowledge of chess, to enjoy it. The main character is so alluring that it didn't matter what game or sport she was into- anyone who watched her play would be immediately mesmerized.
Throughout the show, we watch her grow up, and bear witness to the many sides of Beth. The orphan, the prodigy, the daughter, the burnout, the addict, and everyone's favourite- the genius. She can kick a grown man's ass on the board and off, with her bold statements and fierce personality. It was a joy to watch.
I can't stress enough how imperative it is for you to watch it.
Try out an episode, even half an episode.
You won't regret it.
