I am not an ardent fan of Korean Dramas (or movies). Well, I do watch sometimes but usually, it depends on who is the actor. Then, the synopsis. If possible, I want to avoid the typical, same storyline (a heroine who undergoes various hardships, losing almost everything she holds dear, and yet seems never to lose her sunny disposition, met a rich hero, fall in love, etc...)
Before year end 2017, I saw a short video on social media about a young woman who can see ghosts and how desperately she was to avoid seeing them by wearing sunglasses. I thought it was pretty interesting since horror is my genre.
Drama Title: Black
Starring:
Go Ara
Song Seung Hoon
Synopsis:
A young detective (Song Seung Hoon) who turns into a grim reaper (after his death by inhabiting a human body) and uncovers the truth about a serial murder mystery. He then fell in love with a mortal woman (Go Ara) whom can see shadows of death. By touching it, she can foresee how the person will die. Together with the Grim Reaper (unknown to Go Ara), they must stop the unfortunate event before it’s happening.
My review.
Song Seung Hoon and Go Ara really played their characters very well. And you wouldn’t believe the age difference between the two of them. The chemistry is so natural!
The character played by Song Seung Hoon is quite challenging. From a nerd to a cold-hearted man, it fits perfectly with him. Wearing fully black suit makes him more noticeable or should I say handsome? 😍 Hahaha.
At first, it was very difficult for me to understand the storyline. I need to immerse every character and fully understand what their roles in the story. Over time, I was stuck to find out more.
Everything seems fine till the last 20 minutes. It seems illogical to me. Everyone forgets about the grim reaper and Go Ara had no memories at all about her true love? Shouldn’t that every story deserve a happy ending? It seems to me the scriptwriters are too lazy to think 😡
It said that Black was inspired by Goblin. To be honest, I did not watch Goblin since I’m not a big fan of Gong Yoo.
For those who have watched Goblin and Black, is there any similarities (except, of course, both male leads is a grim reaper)?
So, if you guys never watch Black before, this is one series that is to me, is worth watching.
I leave you guys with the drama teaser below. Have fun.
