"Donnie Darko" is a thriller psychology movie of 2001 directed by Richard Kelly and produced by Adam Fields with Nancy Juvonen, Sean McKittrick and Drew Barrymore. The film whose script is also written by Richard Kelly is about the adventure of the main character in order to find the meaning of life and vision of the coming of the Day of Resurrection. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Jena Malone, Mary McDonnell, Holmes Osborne, Katharine Ross, James Duval, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Drew Barrymore, Patrick Swayze and Noah Wyle, released on October 26, 2001 and distributed by United Artists.

The film screened the Sundance Film Festival on January 19, 2001 and was released on a limited scale in the United States (58 screens) due to the 9/11 WTC. To promote the film, the director Richard Kelly wrote a book about Donnie Darko, including a preface written by Gyllenhaal. Not only that, released also figures from Frank as high as 15 cm and 30 cm. With a budget of just $ 4.5 million, this film can not even turn over because it only generates a worldwide profit of $ 4.1 million. Summary of the story

In 1988, a teenager, Donnie Darko (Jake Gyllenhaal) was forced to meet a psychiatrist because of his troubled past. This young man sometimes goes to sleep and sees a rabbit who looks like a demon named Frank (James Duval). The creature that can only be seen by Donnie said that doomsday will come within 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, and 12 seconds. The next day, Donnie met a woman named Gretchen Ross (Jena Malone). Thanks to the Halloween party held by Donnie and his sister: Elizabeth (Maggie Gyllenhaal), the two are close, Donnie decides to visit Grandma Death along with Gretchen and two friends. Halfway through, they quarreled with two oppressors: Seth Devlin (Alex Greenwald) and Ricky Danforth (Seth Rogen) to cause Gretchen's death. Then, will the end of the world come any minute? And who is Frank?
