Hello fellow steemers! Welcome to my review of one of the most amazing games, Super Mario 64!
This game hits home hard for me. This game came at a time in my life right before my big brother would head out to college. I think in the summer before he left we put five hundred hours into this game. I'd played all of the mario games prior to this one, but this one took it to a whole new extreme. We look back now at the graphics and they seem terrible. Rough edges, glitches, etc. Back then these seemed insane! This game and every game made for the Nintendo 64 practically seemed like real life back then.
The plot for this game is same old, same old Mario. The princess is princess-napped by the evil Bowser and it is up to you: Mario, to save her!
The game takes place mostly in Peaches Castle. When Mario arrives at the castle he finds out Bowser has imprisoned Peach in a picture on the wall. Toad tells Mario that he must collect all of the power stars that he can find inside each painting in the castle. Inside each painting mario will find a new level that must be completed. The levels are unlike any other Mario game because they can be traveled in any direction with no time limit. The original Mario games were side scrollers that Mario could only travel forward.
This Mario model paved the way for how we look at Mario nowadays. This is the original base model Mario that was used to create him in tons of other games that proceeded this. Such as Super Smash Bros, Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Mario Kart, Mario Party, etc. Though he is been cleaned up over the years you can see the original design lives.
A little fun fact for you gaming nerds is that there was supposed to be a follow up game to this, Super Mario 64 II The Nintendo 64 was supposed to release an upgrade for the N64 (You can see in video above). The N64DD was going to play the new Mario 64 but after bombing in Japan they never finished the product in America.
If you ever plan on looking for an old school game to pick up and haven't played this classic title then do yourself a favor and get it! I still go back and play this game every once in a while. Not as often as Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time but it's still a close 2nd! They've re-released this game on quite a few systems so it shouldn't be to hard to get your hands on a copy. (rom, n64, gamecube, DS, wii, wii U)
I would rate this game a solid 5 stars!
BONUS:
The all time greatest part of this game is doing the penguin races. This was basically the most amazing thing when you are 10 years old playing Mario 64 for the first time. I used to do this mission over and over again just to see how fast I could complete it!
LMAO! I use a third party program to manage my posts so I don't potentially lose them due to power loss/posting issues on steemit domain. Somehow it posted the weirdest mixed post! All fixed now!
Is it me, or did you just start a review on Super Mario and then go on a Harry Potter book length epic rant about Resident Evil? THEY SHOULD HAVE NEVER GAVE YOU WORDS!
Wait, what? I am so confused right now!
