What's up fellow steemers! Today I'm going to be bringing you way back to 1995. The year that the classic game Yoshi's Island was released for Super Nintendo. This game was released as a prequel to the classic Super Mario Bros games. It follows the main character Yoshi in his quest to re-unite Baby Mario with his brother Luigi!

The game takes place within forty eight different levels. In each level you are playing as a different colored Yoshi who passes Baby Mario onto the next Yoshi. The game mechanics are quite different from the original Super Mario bros. When Yoshi is hit by an enemy, Baby Mario will fall off your back. If you don't retrieve him in time you lose the level. Yoshi has many abilities including using his tongue to eat enemies. You can either spit them back out or turn them into eggs. The eggs will last for a few seconds before the enemy pops back out, you also have the option of throwing the egg. If Yoshi eats a watermelon he is able to spit out seeds to kill his enemies. The same goes for flaming enemies, once eaten Yoshi can spit fire for a period of time.

Yoshi's Island was a huge success for Nintendo and lead to many more solo games for Yoshi. The game was also remade for Gameboy Advance years later, which is actually where I first played the game. It wasn't till I bought a Super Nintendo in my teens that I found a original copy of Yoshi's Island.

wow I completely forgot about this game. I used to play this for hours with my little brothers. I always wished they would have put out a yoshi island for n64. They did yoshi's story for n64 but it just wasn't the same.

Simply awesome in just every aspect.
