They are not the antichrist here to ravish the reward pool.
They may do that, but its not the hammer's fault that it hit your thumb.
When you use bots to buy your friend some rewards that increase her visibility, no problem.
That is just leveraging your stake to help your friend.
The tool is made available to you, who cares if its provider puts profits over people, right?
For the moment let's ignore how stake based voting works in the math.
Let's say that large accounts voting have no impact on everybody else.
Let's pretend that vote bots dont get their rewards by taking rewards from the least powerful of us.
We can act like its ok to push hundreds of third world hungry people away from the few cents they would have gotten.
Nobody cares that those few cents mean the difference between eating or getting online tomorrow to earn enough to eat again, right?
In this environment why wouldn't you buy some rewards?
Now, let's come back to reality.
Steem's community is largely made up of folks that will bend over backwards to help each other.
Then there is the small minority that take profits at any cost.
Those that only associate with others that know their place, those who fawn over the emperor's new robe.
They will run steem into the ground if they can make a buck from it.
'Its just good crapitalism.', they tell us.
Well, newbs, most of you werent here for the n2, you dont know what steem would look like if the greedy whales acted responsibly and let the minnows share in the rewards.
You didn't see the excitement in the mass adopters when the greedy whales were forced to allow the minnows to matter in the math.
We got to see that for a couple days before linear rewards, vote selling, and 'visibility' was foisted upon us by stinc in response to the greedy whales sucking up so much that it made the game pointless to all of us, except them, of course.
One of those whales went so far as to force golos to adopt them, too.
I'm sure he is very proud of himself, his knob slobbers certainly are supportive.
I dont need to call his name, the blockchain has recorded his shameful behavior for as long as the witnesses maintain its integrity.
He may do us all the favor of outing himself by downvoting this post, too!
Irrespective of that, bots can be used to take food out of the minnows' mouths by force.
You can hire a thug to force your way onto the trending page.
Knob slobbers will rejoice with you and tell you how magnificent your new robe looks on you, too!
You dont really care what the real people, those that earn their rewards by doing the work, think, do you?
Why should you care about people that dont even know you exist?
Why should you care about what some grumpy lunatic mumbles about what could have been.
This is good enough, right?
The really sad thing is that as newbs come and accept what we have as normal the push to have what could've been will die and we will be left with being ruled by an invisible oligarchy that rewards its sycophants at the expense of everybody else and nobody will know the difference except some old, crazy lunatics that mumble to their 20 viewers.
Smdh.
RIP, @transparencybot, we will dust you off when the greedy whales move on to bully users of some other coin.
No.
The contrary is true.
Just watch how many small votes (less than 100%) are cast, and they come from people whom actually vote other people's content.

If i voted 100% i would have like 6% vote power, which amounts to the same thing as a smaller vote.
You can use the slider, once you have it, or you can run your vp down, it works out the same way.

Quite true, but not entirely.
After all, even without the slider, I run my "VP" above 90% almost all the time, and did not go below 84% for over a month and may not go down there in the next 5 months (straight).
And with all the justifications for voting below 100%, the ratios which I see from the accounts that I see, are still not justified.
Suppose the slider allows one to be flexible about how many rshares to use, if one could do with only 100% votes without the slider, consider that finding content to upvote and interactions already take time, so voting below 80% is a hint of Indiscriminate voting policy.
Remember the generous whale each of us encountered when we were new?
He is a good representative case of the zeitgeist.

From what I have heard and seen Steemit has had problems and will always have problems. I expect the problems to get much worse as the user base grows. If we get big like Facebook 90% of new users will probably never even earn 1 Steem unless the inflation rate goes up.
"the reward pool was curved to direct the rewards towards those who received the highest weighted votes."

Yeah, when the masses get here it will be very difficult to earn a steem, and very expensive to buy enough stake to have influence.
Which, no doubt, will get compained about.
It also explains why i never see steem over 20usd, if it can get that high.
Nobody pays that to reward others.
But, i dont see it going to zero, either.

If Steem goes to $20 then official payouts would be higher. I think there is a potential for a run in Steem. I can see it being valued at $1,000 per Steem in 10 years unless EOS is able to take over.

There's a lot in here I would love for people to read, but I cannot resteem a post with this title. I care not to have anyone think that I approve of bidbots on any level at all.
On a secondary note, I really did believe I was the best candidate for the debate, but after reading this I realise that it's you who ought to be the one.
Though, it is perhaps irrelevant, for I doubt there will be an opponent to debate anyway..

I dont mind contributing, for sure.
The title is clickbait to get folks in that want to believe their use of bots isnt harmful to steem.
Then i hit them with the truth.
If you are paying thugs to rob rewards from everybody else, because you are too lazy to do the work, well, you lack class.
That bots are harmful is only unknown to the newbs.

You look at it very much from the point of view of the buyer. But I think the big problem is the seller that is making a profit by stopping to use their sp to curate actual content. This is what drives the system into the dirt. (I made a more detailed post here)

Yes, when the large accounts vote everybody else is devalued in the math.
Were they not to vote, or delegate to be voted, all of our votes would be worth more.
