October 5 was Rustin High School's homecoming game. The opposing team was the Oxford High Schol Hornets. The Hornets came into the game with a 4-1 record and Rustin came in with a 3-2 record. However, Oxford's only loss was to Penn Wood, who Oxford had already beaten. So, it looked to be an exciting and challenging football game. Because it was homecoming, Rustin's band took the field for half time and Oxford took the field for pregame.
It's interesting to look at these photos and reflect on how quickly the sun marches through its cycle. During our early games of the season, sunset was happening in the 3rd quarter, and the fans were wearing shorts and tee-shirts. Even at this game, just a couple weeks ago, cheerleaders were still dressed in short sleeves, and the game started around dusk. As you may have seen in our steepshot game updates last night, that has all changed now.
You may also notice some visiting dignitaries in the cheerleading photos. Apparently, the cheerleaders follow the same practice as the marching band by inviting 5th graders from the local elementary schools to participate in the game experience, and homecoming was their night.
This photo-essay documents that night's pre-game experience, so the following photos will document Oxford Marching Band's time on the field. Unless otherwise stated, all pictures are original photos that were taken with an LG-G4 camera. To expand any picture, you can right-click and open it in a new tab.

Conclusion
Thank you for taking the time to view this post and for supporting Rustin's Marching Band!
Oxford's marching band put on a great show, and since it was Rustin's homecoming game, they got a chance to perform it in front of a sizable audience. We also couldn't have asked for nicer weather. At the end of the night, both teams left the stadium with 4-2 records after Rustin won the game, 49-13.
Please check back soon for upcoming photo-essays to document Rustin Marching Band's halftime show as well as the stands experience for this game as well as additional posts covering games and band competitions throughout the month of October.
If you happen to be near Southeastern PA, you can see the band perform today in the US Bands Pennsylvania State Championship at West Chester University. The competition starts at 4:45 and Rustin is scheduled to take the field at 6:52 PM.
Of local interest, the following bands also appear on the schedule:
- Council Rock
- Coatesville
- Avon Grove
- Perkiomen Valley
- North Penn
- Downingtown East
- Penncrest
And, of course, since the game is hosted by West Chester University, the Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band will be performing an exhibition show at the end of the night while the judges tally their scores.

The account's purpose is to demonstrate the viability of a fund-raising model that is based on use of the Steem block chain in the community. The account's goal for 2018 is to raise enough money to send one student on the Rustin Golden Knight Marching Band's trip from Pennsylvania to Florida in December for performances in the Citrus Parade and in Disney.
