Inflammation or Swelling of The Sinus Tissue

Sinusitis, also known as rhinosinusitis, is swelling of the sinuses. Sinusitis can be caused by infection, allergies, or auto-immune problems. Patients with sinusitis experience inflammation or swelling of the sinus tissue. The sinuses are air-filled nasal cavities behind the facial bones. Sinuses have a mucous membrane lining that produces mucus. This mucus serves to keep the nasal passages moist. The most common causes of sinusitis are bacteria and viruses. If caused by a virus, sinusitis will become an infectious disease. The various symptoms of sinusitis are quite distinctive and can distinguish it from other diseases, including greenish-yellow mucus discharge, facial pain and pain when pressed, bad breath (halitosis), sore throat, toothache, swelling around the eyes and can be felt it gets worse in the morning. Patients will experience symptoms of recurrent sinusitis such as fatigue accompanied by problems with the sense of smell or taste, cough, sore throat, bad breath, fever, and headache. Headaches can occur when the patient is bending over. The danger of sinusitis often causes various diseases of the brain, such as meningitis and brain abscess. The disease can cause symptoms in the form of high fever, severe headache, stiff neck, difficulty walking, seizures, nausea and vomiting, to weakness or loss of consciousness.
