Can you solve this riddle for a STEEM prize?

So I am having a go at a Homophobic Pun Riddle. It's basically a series of clues that each have a sound as an answer. You find each sound and try to make a word out of it e.g. on + e + tooth + reef + ore = One, two, three, four. You would get the 5 sounds from clues on one line such as 'its's not off' and put it all together to make a word. It's also worth noting some lines (usually at the start or finish) give clues to the whole thing).

I'll start with a hopefully quiet easy one so everyone understands it.

You don't have to look far for the answer to this,
Just answer the clues and make sure there is nothing you miss,
You heat this up and it cooks for you,
Follows the night but doesn't state why,
The french eat me but for you they took away the nail,
Look at a graph now look northwest, say what you see but not with a rant.

So I hope everyone gets it! I am also trying to think of ways to not spoil the puzzle for people so for this problem try and use the reply feature this comment if you have spoilers and I will read answers on there. It is either that, a new post or be exposed to spoilers so I dunno what people would prefer. Write in the comments if you have any preference or smart ideas please.

There is a grand prize of 0.005 STEEM for the winner and three 0.001 STEEM runner up prizes.

The winner is the first correct answer. After 7 days the runners up will be randomly selected. I will use a random number generator and assign numbers to all correct answers and the three chosen will win (It's a small prize but mainly just for fun). After 7 days I post an answer/identify the correct answer and pay out the rewards.
