i think maybe there are three, maybe five people out there who have not signed up to drive for lyft or uber. if any of you five are reading this and you are bummed out by apparent driver saturation in your market, this is for you.
while there may be a large number of drivers registered in your area, keep in mind they probably aren't all driving at the same time, or in the same area. for example, as i announced in my previous post, i am not driving tonight as i tend to avoid rainy conditions and drinking holidays like st. patrick's day weekend. so if you enjoy driving in the rain or transporting inebriated passengers and have no fear of inebriated drivers, then tonight you would be +1 vs. the competition. and since i intended to make a lot of money tonight, that would have been even more for you.
i know when i'm parked on the street and see the car in front of me and the one behind me badged with uber or lyft stickers (or both), i know i get dispirited by their ubiquity. on the other hand they're parked and not in service. and even when they are on the road they may not be on duty and in fact it may be someone not a lyft or uber driver behind the wheel. so don't get too bummed.
that's at least what i tell myself.
and you know, you don't have to have all the available customers, just one to get the meter going. and as long as you can keep that meter running for as many miles as you can, you can make some money.
all markets are different, but you'll never know if it can work for you until you try. if you already have an eligible car it doesn't take much investment at all to get started. and if your car is not eligible for rideshare you can still deliver food or packages with even less investment.
so if any of you are thinking you want to drive for uber or lyft, or grubhub or caviar, i have referral codes to use on your application which may get you a bonus when you start driving. i might make a few bucks as well off your hard work so if you have any questions after you sign up i'd be happy to help if i can.
if you have any questions before you sign up i still might be able to help as long as it isn't complicated or really difficult.
so as we say in the business, uber on. or lyft off.
