This piece is framed with a thesis that those on the Right are truly isolationist and non-interventionism, but it sort of concedes at the end that they really aren't that way with China. I'd add as well terrorism and Iran. No better showcased by how Tulsi Gabbard would be called anti-war despite being one of the more vocal politicians regarding bombing ISIS. Or how Trump would be called non-interventionist despite increasing bombings of Afghanistan during his Presidency.
It isn't so much that they are against helping Ukraine because of non-interventionist ideals, but because they like Putin and are swallowing Russian propaganda about Ukraine. And the steady, if only consistent, thing about the modern GOP that they are against whatever the Left is for.
The idea of Trump as non-interventionist was always laughable.
And even if conservatives actually did want to avoid war, they are gung ho about using tactics of war on citizens and at the borders.
The idea that "war is expensive and what happens in that place over there has nothing to do with me" as in anyway a peaceful stance is hilarious.
