Isaiah and the messiah: Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist. Isaiah 11:5

Isaiah was a notable prophet of the Kingdom of Judah during the 7th century BC and he not only wrote a book and gave important prophecies but also advised many kings such as Ahaz and Hezekiah on matters of politics and strategy, allowing the Kingdom of Judah to survive during the expansion of the Assyrian empire in the Middle East, while neighboring kingdoms like Israel and Aram were destroyed.
But beyond these issues, the writings of Isaiah are of special importance for the Christian faith because many prophecies made by him announce the arrival of Jesus as the redeeming messiah, in the gospels it is even reported that Jesus made reference to him numerous times. The influence of Isaiah as a major prophet in Christianity leaves no room for doubt.
Isaiah called Jesus, Immanuel, which means God with us, and his birth according to the prophecies would be the work of God: "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel" Isaiah 7:14.
But then he said something else about Jesus, he would be a redeemer descended from King David:
"Out of the stump of David's family will grow a shoot—
yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root" Isaiah 11:2.
Isaiah described Jesus as a person and prophesied that Jesus would be filled with the spirit of God and that wisdom would always accompany him in his words and works, and that through this gift Jesus would work great signs.
With these words, Isaiah described the personality of Lord Jesus:
"He will not judge by appearance
nor make a decision based on hearsay.
He will give justice to the poor
and make fair decisions for the exploited.
The earth will shake at the force of his word,
and one breath from his mouth will destroy the wicked.
Righteousness will be his belt
and faithfulness the sash around his waist" Isaiah 11:3-5.
For Isaiah, Jesus would not simply be a wise man or a benefactor of humanity but the personification of God's mercy. Even today, 3000 years later, Isaiah's texts continue to influence thought in the world.
