The International Chess Federation (FIDE) is coming to Avalanche (AVAX) blockchain. This announcement has been made by the FIDE president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.
Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has announced that the FIDE will be using the Avalanche blockchain for its tournaments. In an interview, he said that it was a “wonderful opportunity†to use their own technology in order to attract more people to chess.
The Avalanche blockchain is a public, open-source and decentralized platform that provides a P2P network where every node can run and participate in maintaining the network. The platform also provides smart contracts which can be used for all kinds of purposes like voting or asset management among many others.
FIDE president Kirsan Ilyumzhinov explained why he believes that this technology is perfect for chess: “I think it’s very interesting because we have this problem in all our sports – how do you find out who is good? How do you find out who is not good? And how do you teach them?â€
He continued: It seems to me that there are some things that only human beings can do and then there are some things that computers can do better than humans.
