Start keeping a close eye on what will happen to Ripple (XRP) in the coming weeks. The currency set a new all-time high Monday (.24) and topped Ethereum to become 2nd when it comes to market cap, but their spotlight lasted only for a brief moment. Poloniex and Gatehub , major cryptocurrency online exchanges started experiencing problems when it came to trading, making plenty investors frustrated. For Poloniex, this is the third time the exchange suddenly goes blank when XRP is gaining in value. When XRP rises and then such exchange issues arise , major dumping follows.
However, it looks like there MAY BE some good news for XRP moving forward, as it is possible the team will announce a coin lock-up soon. This information has not been officially been confirmed , but it will make investors quibble XRP . To be more precise, This rumor is being planned to be announced no later then June of 2017. This could send major shock waves through the cryptocurrency community.
The XRP amount is large, very large! Although it will not continue to increase any further, there is a total of 100billion XRP created with only 30% being distributed out to the public and the rest being held by Ripple Labs. This makes many speculate that XRP is a worthless cryptocurrency. By doing a lock up, it will address all of the concerns people may have regarding the available XRP supply. In all actuality, XRP will gradually decrease, as Ripple transactions using the XRP will result in small amounts of the currency getting destroyed. This effectively reduces the available amount of currency supply over time.
The goal is to make the individual value of each XRP higher and more precious over time. Right now, XRP is seeing a significant boost in market share and currency value. Even though a lot of the positive momentum was undone Monday by Poloniex and Gatehub issues, the market seems to be heading in a good direction.
If this happens, things can get pretty interesting for Ripple and its value. Reminder, it is only a rumor. Just be prepared!

Some say it won't ever hit that. If this lock up does occur, there will be a crazy amount of people then to try get on it! I have a lot of faith on Ripple

Nice article. I'm reading this six days later as ripple is climbing back towards .2, seems likely it will get there. I'm debating buying in but it's hard with so much XRP hate going around. What do you think about Ripple Labs holding such a large volume of the currency?
