As was both expected and appropriate, the weapons charge against Rittenhouse has been dismissed.
Regardless of the wisdom of such legislation, Wisconsin law is explicit that the prohibition against 16 and 17 year olds carrying guns in public applies only to rifles and shotguns with barrels under 16 inches in length.
Let's hope the Wisconsin legislature re-writes those statues to prohibit 16 and 17 year olds from carrying firearms in public unless hunting with a qualified adult. I think almost everyone agrees that 16 and 17 year olds shouldn't be walking in the streets armed.
