I honk my car horn atleast 100x a day when I drive, pretty much every car I get behind I most likely honk at. Even if they are doing nothing wrong.
That doesn't mean you wont do something wrong
Guarunteed you did something stupid about 2miles ago and nobody noticed. Well I'm that person to tell you that it was stupid!
Just to make sure I don't let any stupid person go Un-honked at, I honk at everyone. I also point my finger at the person so they understand that YES

Well that car horn is right at my fingertips and I can't help myself to use and abuse it. Seriously, The car horn is FREE to use, and nothing in this world is free these days. I can always find a reason to honk at you -
If your car has rust on it... HONK - don't drive that junk bucket infront of me!
If you drive under the speed limit even in the slow lane I will ride your ass and honk a whole ton of times. Stop slowing up the world! If you can't atleast drive the limit - don't drive.
Going too fast? I will purposely get infront of you and travel below the speed limit, while honking and pointing at you in my rear-view mirror. If you go to pass me, I won't let you. I will only honk and point.
If your traveling down school street with your 3 gradschool children, I will honk at you! - You have personally made the roads worse for the future by adding 3 more drivers on the roads... most likely you will recieve 3 honks if not more.
Don't let this barbie see you when I'm on the roads, I am not afraid to honk at you and I am an expert at using the car horn!
It's not that I have road-rage, I just don't like stupid drivers.
I would ban car horns if I could. Not even allow to built them in the cars.

Oh I'm definetly a terrible driver! It's what got me started honking at everyone in the first place. Everyone else honking at me, fine - I'll just honk at everyone too!

I owned an 85 Mazda 626 when I was a teen. It had two overly sensitive buttons, one for each thumb. That was the horn. One day one of the buttons got stuck. My horn stayed on, everyone looked at me. Maybe you should look into getting a 1985 Mazda 626.

I have been to a couple Latin American countries and they use the horn just like you describe, it is needed for the car to communicate with other drivers.

In my 2.5 million miles as an over the road trucker I noticed that the horns blowed a lot in the north east. did the drivers?
