New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is considering stepping away from the gridiron at the young age of 28. Previous reports had noted that Gronkowski sees a future in Hollywood as an actor — a belief that's backed up by this b-list celebrity.
But what if Gronkowski turned in his football cleats for a career in professional wrestling? According to the tight end's best friend, Mojo Rawley, this is a real possibility.
"It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of WHEN," Mojo told TMZ Sports when asked about a potential future in the WWE for Gronkowski."Rawley went on to say he "couldn't speak for" Gronkowski. But in reality, that's exactly what he did here.
This makes more sense than Gronkowski somehow thinking he has what it takes to be an actor on the big screen. The Super Bowl winner's personality could very well be best suited for a career in wrestling. Then, if the situation arises, a lesser version of The Rock could be in Gronk's future.
Gronkowski made waves around the Internet world following New England's loss to Philadelphia in Super Bowl LII last Sunday, refusing to commit to playing in the NFL next season. It had him as the fifth-most talked about Super Bowl figure in the big game, per our SNIPdaily NFL Top 100.
And for good reason. Gronkowski has become more than a football player. He's a brand. As evidenced by the WWE being able to lure Ronda Rousey from the UFC, Vince McMahon loves himself some brands. We're sure he'll reach out to Gronkowski about a potential transition to the wrestling ring. Because, why not?
