360 cameras, VR operators and robotics

Technology has developed in multiple areas that can now be combined to make a Super Robot. When it is remotely controlled (not autonomous), it will integrate the latest in Camera, and in-sync operator movement tech. This may prove to be ideal for disaster rescue.

Remote operation of Drones, small and medium sized robots like Pepper have started replacing robotic head servos (for viewer FOV)with high res live streaming 360 camera It may be a single unit like a GEAR 360VR camera or may be a multiple camera rig featuring several GoPros.Virtual Reality Headsets offer an unparalleled user experience for controlling most robots. The immersion into the environment offers a more helpful perspective on protecting and preserving the robot. Increased sensory input on the ROV’s and sensory hijacking on the operator, blend the line between man and machine. This is all in part because you can now watch 360 video streams from within VR

For improved dexterity and control, it seems to be becoming more efficient to have robots’ bodies (torso and arms) to be operated with VR operator; using Arm motion sensors. HTC VIVE, OCULUS and PlayStation controllers have their flaws, but motion capture offers a glimpse into the awesomeness that is to come with telepresence and robotics.

The increasing technical ability of creatoru.be/T4LlbN1DNogs to artistically match the work of nature, in developing mechanical hands with such grace, is hopeful. Bio-mimicry has advanced rapidly and at current states, i’d say your first home robot may motions seem clumsy and childlike but still advanced enough to resemble a timid monkey’s grasp.

Nature may not have tried every technique for self support and self stabilizing system. One Futuristic one that catches my eye is the Ball balancing Robot. The servo system developed for this particular type of stabilization will be most likely be applied in all future androids in various position within the spine. (certainly at the base) .(I’m eager to see some Robot tables roaming around restaurants someday soon.)

There have been some rapid developments in bio-mimicry of LEGS and bipedal-ism.For “Pack animal” type machine assistants, animal shapes are ideal

Creativity continues all the way down to the feet, great strides have been made in stair climbing wheel designs.

These technologies are coming together, through shared knowledge on the world wide web. 360 Video and Virtual Reality are connecting us with Shared Experiences too now, so don’t be surprised if you see some cool creations coming out of innovative labs like Boston dynamics, and IHMC using 360 video and VR headsets and motion controllers. Competitions for upcoming Darpa robot challenges will be fierce. Is a Robot Olympics on the horizon? I hope so.

Thanks robot, maybe I should've talked about you in the post too. You genius algorithm you.
