Instant Karma was founded by Aleksandar Jankovic in 1987. Before they created their own material, they performed the processing of The Kinks and The Animals. They published their first edition in 1988 for the Suzy publishing house in Zagreb and changed the band's name to the Revolution. In the same year, another EP under the name "Total Darkness" is published under this name. On the album were recorded two concerts of songs "You Are Here" and "She knows it".
After returning to their original name, they produced their own production "The story of Instant Karma" featuring tracks "Red Rain", "No one can do me anything" and "Girls", which additionally draw attention to themselves. Period to the new album filled with participation in the compilation "Smoke over the City", where they are represented with the songs "Ten Years Before", "Forget Me" and "Smoke Over the City".
The album titled "Ten Years Ago" with 12 rhythm 'n' blues tracks was released in 1990 and thanks to it Instant Karma qualified as one of the most promising young bands in Yugoslavia. However, then everything started with another flow, both country and band, and rock'n'roll.
The next album, "Watch How You Walk", was released in 1992 as a tape and as LP. In addition to the recognizable rhythm 'n' blues style, the band also announces punk sound in the number "Punk 92".
The next edition of "How to Kill an Oktopus?" Was made live in 1994 in the famous club "Mojo" in Senta and brings a compilation of recognizable Instant Karma songs.
The album "Day for the Day" was released in 1995 for the PGP RTS and is an excursion into the field of music. It is followed by a compilation CD "Roll over" (Years of Oktopod 1987-1996). The song "You Can not Do Me Anything" for this album wrote Cane from Partibrejkers who was singing the accompanying vocals as a guest. The album "Blum!" Was released in 1997, and the release by which the band ends decade is called "3 × 3". During the bombardment of Alexander in the apartment, a "War session" containing three tracks was recorded: "Super thing", "City without name" and "Train".
