From this debate, more than ever I agree with Bitcoin Cash and Roger Vers' viewpoint. Currency has to be used as a Currency. Even if people or companies may exchange Bitcoin for another currency you have to look at what your doing. Your educating people to something new and exposing them to a new paradigm and ideology. Roger Ver isn't new to this. This is how he evangelised Bitcoin to the world. Tone Vays’ defense of using BTC as a store of value and not wanting BTC to be spent... It's the same reason why BTC price shot to the moon and lost value even faster, SPECULATION!!! Tone Vays wants his nest-egg in BTC to increase in value. There's nothing wrong with that, however as Roger Ver said, if your not able to use it to buy goods & services there is no store of value. A medium is a store of value ONLY because it's tradeable for goods and services. Tone Vays you're a great technical trader but I think you see stock everywhere (tunnel-vision). Stocks are stores of value ONLY because it can be exchanged for a REAL CURRENCY. That is exactly the route BTC has taken. (It is seen as a STOCK to the majority of people that use it now) Bitcoin from it’s origin was always meant to be a currency, that is until the block-increase manufactured debate. Then BTCers’ started saying stupid things like the fees skyrocketing was a good thing and block-size increase wouldn’t work. Bitcoin Cash just did a stress test of a whopping 32mb block-size that was massively impressive. As Roger Ver said in the past, BTC was ready to see massive adoption before BTC developers decided not honor increasing the block-size. The alphabet agency couldn't have devised a better plan to stop adoption. (won’t say their name for fear of reprisal) You fell for their gambit hook, line, and…
Tone Vays you also have to understand, ECONOMIST ARE NOT SCIENTIST AND ECONOMICS IS NOT A SCIENCE. Just look into history there have been some real nut-cases and nut-case theories...
This is not a hit piece against Tone Vays. He has a well deserved and huge following. This following however, is exposed to and may develop his rhetoric. I'm even a fan of his technical analysis and law review shows however I know like all human beings it is easy to get caught up in tribalism and biases.
Tone Vays I hope you reflect and decide to tone down your rhetoric against Bitcoin Cash to enhance the cohesion in the crypto-currency community.
As for Rogers' answer to the question, why are you calling Bitcoin Cash Bitcoin, Roger is in the wrong.
I understand why Roger Ver feels that he should retain the name Bitcoin:
- He spent blood and sweat equity getting that name known worldwide
- Bitcoin Cash code is closer to the original Bitcoin code
- The following that Bitcoin has is mostly a result of marketing
- He is one of the Bitcoin original gangsters
- Was basically forced out of Bitcoin by "new developers" with unknown agendas and ties
Imagine someone running a very successful business making CPUs. You find out that in the future it will be very difficult for you to keep up with demand.
Which method is more likely to succeed ?
a) shut down business and start making new factories to get ready for rush
b) continue business and gradually grow to meet new expectations while leveraging future innovations
