322807_117.jpg Describing ethnic killings directed at the Rohingya people as genocide, Myanmar has demanded justice through the International Criminal Court (ICC), local and international experts.
They said this at an international seminar titled 'Accountability: International Criminal Court and Rohingya Crisis' held at Senate Bhaban of Dhaka University (DU). Center for Genocide Studies of Dhaka University, ActionAid Bangladesh, and BRAC University's Center for Peace and Justice jointly organized it.

Experts say that it is possible to investigate and prosecute the oppression and assassination of the Rohingyas by Myanmar government forces through the International Criminal Court (ICC). Through which Myanmar can be brought accountable for the rehabilitation and genocide of Rohingya. They said they should give the information sought by the ICC in Bangladesh on June 11.

In the seminar, experts from the country and abroad came up with various aspects of ethnic killing of Myanmar against the Rohingyas. Where it is said, in May, 400 Rohingya women submitted their application to the International Criminal Court located in The Hague, Netherlands, They believe that the International Criminal Court is the only hope for the victims of justice.

In the seminar, the ICC's initiative and Bangladesh's decision to do the work of Bangladesh Supreme Court (High Court Division), Justice Syed Reft Ahmed said that the information sought by the International Crimes Tribunal should be given to Bangladesh. According to the 'Rome rules' of the International Criminal Court, the ICC can investigate the persecution and murder of Myanmar if they want the ICC. Because, many people have been killed. More than seven lakh people were forced to leave the country. Of which half of the children He also said that if the ICC wants the crimes against humanity to take place, they can exercise their judicial powers during this period. Because, this crime has enough information-proof. He said Bangladesh can play a role as 'State Party' here.

Former Criminal Court Prosecutor Kate Vigneswaran said that the people's genocide of Myanmar is anti-humanitarian. It is said that after killing and persecution, people were forced to come to Bangladesh. In this case, the ICC can apply geographic judicial powers. According to Rule 12 of Rome, it is possible to bring Myanmar under trial. Apart from the fact that Myanmar is involved in crimes against humanity like murder and rape, it is possible to take action against them.

Former Australian Attorney Philip Rudak said there is enough information and evidence to say that the planned destruction of Myanmar's Rohingya people is genocide. So I have to take action against Myanmar. That's why it is very important for the UN Security Council to work together. The reason is that the Security Council can intervene directly if they want it.

Professor of International Relations Department of Dhaka University. Imtiaz Ahmed said legal action to solve the Rohingya crisis was very important. Who will be responsible for the genocidal trials or the return of Rohingya to Miyanimar? The ICC can play a big role in this regard. At the same time, we have to create political and economic pressure on Myanmar. And this is possible. Because there is enough evidence that Myanmar has killed, raped, oppressed Rohingyas. That is why it is not possible to solve the bilateral discussion only. This problem needs to be resolved through multilateral pressure. Russia also has to take with us in this regard.

Farhad Kabir, Country Director of ActionAid Bangladesh, said in the concluding speech, "Myanmar will not take back the deported Rohingyas until they are brought under legal obligation. Because of this, the International Criminal Court and the United Nations will have to bring Miyaram to justice.

ICC counsel Fatu Bensuda wanted to know whether the International Criminal Court had the jurisdiction to investigate the dispatch of Rohingya from Myanmar on April 9. In this regard, Bangladesh has been invited to submit three observations on three issues. Bangladesh will have the time till 11 June to give its answer. The International Criminal Court has set the hearing on June 20.

It may be mentioned that after the massive operation of Myanmar's Rakhine in August, about 7 lakh Rohingyas took shelter in Bangladesh.
