Alexandru II Mircea (about 1529 - 15 April 1577) was Lord of Wallachia between June 1568 - April 1577, with a brief interruption in the spring of 1574.
He is the son of Mircea III and Mrs. Despina, nephew of the voivode Mihnea the Evil.

With the support of Grand Vizier Mehmed Sököllu, he is invested in Istanbul on June 7, 1568, after intervening Mihai Cantacuzino, the declared siren of Ms. Chiajna, the sultan decided to change the reign of Wallachia.

Very soon after the throne, on July 28 and September 1, 1568, numerous boyars, known as supporters of Peter the Young, as well as opponents declared by his reign, were executed.
In 1573, together with his wife, Ecaterina Salvaresso, he founded the first printing house in Bucharest at the Plumbuita monastery.
He supports the installation of his brother, Petru Şchiopul, on the throne of Moldova, in the place of Ioan Voda, abolished by the sultan.
In the first phase, the two brothers are defeated in the Battle of Jilişte on 14 April 1574, and Alexandru lost for a short while also the throne.

In need of money, he introduced new gifts, the celebrity remained "what the sheep said dry".
To this was added the hunger and plague epidemic.
In 1574 he loses, for a few days, to Vintilă Voda. He was murdered by Alexander's boyar partisans in Bucharest.
The last major conflict with the boyars was that of 1576, when a delegation of them complained to the Gate. At the request of the great visionary, supporter of the Lord, the sultan ordered the arrest of the boyars and their condemnation to the gallery.
Very ill, he died in the fall of 1577 and was buried in the monastery he founded, Saint Troitza, in Bucharest (on the site of the current monastery Radu Voda), founded by the voivode.
