Bran Castle - Bran Transilvania Romania

Back a few years ago, being that I WAS a big Blackberry supporter I had created a channel with them called "Romania in Pictures." I did it to show my family and friends the country I was moving too! I ended up with about 100,000 subscribers, all of which loved the channel. Many of my subs ended up coming here for vacations. When they came to Brasov we got to meet in the real world!

So with that in mind I think I am going to do some of the same here at steemit. Give everyone a taste of the country and culture I left Canada for.

The castle pictured above is very famous, but for false reasons. Advertised as Dracula's Castle to the public the truth is Vlad "Dracula" The Impaler was never once inside of it. He did walk by once! The castle was owned by the Hungarian King! Vlad did not rule in Transilvania!

However the castle itself dates back to the 1300's and is well worth the tour!

This castle is about 30 minutes from Brasov.

This is a secret passage with the castle. I forget the floors it connects.

The interior, below in the castle is beautiful. You do need to duck a lot while working your way through the castle as people were much smaller in those days. The castle is no long in use of any kind other than tourism. Later I will do a post on Peles Castle which is still in use today.

Some of the armor from the time period. Yep it is the real thing.

Now I started with Bran Castle because it is recognized world wide. I will in a future post show the ruins of the castle and palace of Romanian hero Vlad Tepes, also known as Vlad the Impaler. However the proper name is Prince Vlad III of Wallachia.
