How to set the table for a romantic dinner? Easy ideas and.... sexy!

Transform a dinner for two into an unforgettable evening: here are some hints of romanticism for a dream table.

  1. Do not use the "good service" completely.
Grandmother's silverware and porcelain could intimidate your guest, creating a formal and cast-on atmosphere. Better mix, using high-quality glasses and colourful dishes, or with precious cutlery and, why not, paper dishes with themed designs!

  2. Candles? Yes but....
Attention: the coloured candles (e. g. red) are very romantic, but are often scented. The aromas are to be avoided, definitely: savor the taste of a spicy stew or a refined risotto with a persistent fragrance of wild strawberry or cinnamon and raspberry could be a little nauseating......

  3. Hide small surprises
Between one dish and the other, inside the napkin, under the glass.... hide small cards with written pieces of love poems; in this way, as the dinner progresses, your guest will find a new romantic message.

  4. Colours: Pay attention!
Very important is to coordinate the colors but it is good not to exaggerate with the red (the effect would be too Christmas!). A white tablecloth and napkins with some small red details (for example, a silk bow that closes the tabletop). You could "dare" with paper plates with fun fantasies, or with a colourful and informal service (neutral colours like grey, beige and brown will be very elegant). Avoid the theme of "hearts"......

  5. Dishes? Better big!
Avoid holsters, rather used as large plates as possible, even for the first one (if not a soup!); in this way the portion - not exaggerated, on the contrary! will also leave room for romantic gaskets (for example, some rose petal...)

  6. Bread? Small is better!
A really little romantic thing? A carpet of bread crumbs on the tablecloth! To avoid them, leave the maxi bread to lose. Place a small basket of bread next to the dishes (if you don't have it, use a cloth napkin closed by a ribbon) with small sandwiches that can be eaten in a bite and squares of focaccia and squashed.

  7. Pleasant placeholders
Since you are only in 2, the placeholder is not really indispensable... however, it is a way to make your guest understand that his arrival was expected and subject to care and preparation. Forbidden to write the name (it would be ridiculous, in two...): use two small objects that speak of you. A jewel, a photo, a pen, an ornament... whatever is "thought" and associated with the other person even in a fun way.

  8. Dressed with cutlery
Do not use seventy knives and two hundred forks; rather, change cutlery after every course and have a dessert to eat with your hands. Very sensual!

  9. Break ice
You plan a small appetizer to eat with the chopsticks: they are an unusual detail that enriches the table, and if you don't know how to use them very well it will be fun "trying" (a good way to break the ice, no?).

  10. Music
Prepare a playlist for the evening. Attention! It must be nice music but it must not distract from the conversation, and especially NO to love songs! If the word "love" is repeated more than twice in the lyrics, delete the song. Prepare a cd to give at the end of the evening to your guest: listen again and think again at dinner!
