Why is my Roomba not Charging?

I remember walking around the aisles at Walmart when I first came across the Roomba.

That was before it became a household name. I was fascinated by the prospect of a robot keeping my house clean for me and had to get one for myself.

Since then, the Roomba has come a long way and packs several advanced features.

But when my friend came to me with his brand new 600 series Roomba that wasn’t charging, I realized immediately from the flashing lights that his battery needed reseating.

The same happens when anyone else I know has an issue with their Roomba – they come to me.

So I wouldn’t say that my knack for fixing tech around the house has anything to do with it.

But I sure decided to put together an article that works as a troubleshooting guide so you can know exactly where to start if your Roomba does not charge.

If your Roomba is not charging, clean the charging ports with a soft cloth and some rubbing alcohol to remove dust, hair, or gunk accumulation.

You may also have to reinstall or replace your battery or charging dock or even reset the Roomba to factory settings.

Clean the Electrical Contact Points
I remember coming across iRobot’s commercial for the Roomba 600 series, and the tagline was “cleans hard, so you don’t have to.”
