Petals Contests: PinkFlower Day

in rosesopenweekend •  7 years ago

I was out in my back yard the other day watering my tomato plants and on my way back into the house, I noticed that our rose bushes had started to bloom:

It was only just a couple of weeks ago that I attacked the task of trimming them back. There were still a lot of old dead parts here and there. At considerable risk to my life I went about cutting off all of the dead stuff.

Truth be told, I think I only poked myself about 30 times in the process of trimming.

It was worth it though, because this gave the new parts room to grow and gather nutrients. I am pretty happy with what we have going on so far and I know that we will continue to get more blooms throughout the year.

It would have been cool if my Pixel phone had allowed me to get a little closer, but I am pretty happy with how these pictures turned out.

All pictures were taken by me in my back yard

Our roses are going all mangy now, they were lovely just a week ago. It doesnt take long.

Bummer! I am always amazed at how well ours keep producing well into the Autumn sometimes. That's probably why I don't get around to trimming them back until the next Spring usually :)
