When you love a BAND so much that it HURTS when you realize their time is almost over!

My love-story with ROXETTE, their amazing success worldwide and the end of their final tour.

A couple years ago I got an SMS from a friend to check youtube, Marie Fredrikson had fell on stage and this continued to happen more frequently on their live world tour promoting their latest album, Charm School

I must have been about ten years old when I got a MC-copy of their albums Joyride & Tourism which I would play on my Sony Walkman as much and as often as I had batteries on the darn thing

I was introduced to their music by two girlfriends I went to school with. There was a birthday party, and one of them put on "The Look" on her family´s stereo and everybody liked it, danced and tried to sing along with our make-believe English which was really just gutteral sounds back then. From that day on I was hooked on Roxette, and could not believe how much money one single or even worse one album would cost in the music store.

I convinced my little brother to buy the Joyride-Album with his money, and my friend Håvards mom bought the Tourism-Album and with a little bit of copying and pasting, I had both of them and could walk - like a man - listening to empowering ballads and cool guitar riffs from Per Gessle´s slick way of making every single song sound awesome.

The one and only time I actually went to a Roxette concert was on their World Tour 2012: Lima, Peru – April 21st. Something inside me told me this would be the last and only chance to see them live and show them the love I truly have for their music in my heart, so I convinced my wife and a few friends to buy VIP-tickets for this events, to stand all the way up front as anything else just would not be good enough.

That night was one of the best nights of my life, and it actually brings tears to my eyes thinking back on this event, tears of joy and sadness that we have seen the best of their performance in the past, to sing along with them and as blood-fans backing them even harder, and after the concert Per & Marie wrote:

Oh Yea! Lima was, just as expected, an out of this world experience! Superb crowd, Marie’s voice in good shape and the tiny boogie band in killer mode!!! Such a pleasure to be on stage in this environment. Big thanks to all you almost 15000 ppl who participated in making this Saturday night a winner! Cheers, P&M&Co

To help me conclude this story, I will put in a song from 1992, Queen of Rain. The first time I heard this song, my friend Håvard called me on the house telephone to tell me to turn on the television, I caught the last half of it and as almost everything else released from them before, this too was high quality.

Dream about the SUN you QUEEN of RAIN!

I was about to put the The Look in the comments but I've seen that you mention it in your cool personal story with Roxette. Then, I went on YouTube, did a search for the band, to finally realize that I totally forgot that they came up with that many of such good hits.

Those two in particular I enjoyed as a kid:

Roxette - Listen To Your Heart

Roxette - It Must Have Been Love

B.t.w., I, too, had this exact Sony Walkman! :-)

Really beautiful songs both of them, I enjoy!

Thank you for sharing guys. Truly awesome music. I knew her by name and had heard listen to your heart before but I'll dive a bit deeper cause I really enjoyed what you guys have shared.

Love love Roxette! Singing "it must have been love" in a college interview was something. reminds me not to put singing in my fav past-time :)

Hehe @immarojas, funny :)
I like "vulnerable" as well, let me share it:

It never took off big time like many of the others, but I like the lyrics in particular on this one.

not one of those yes..its familiar.

you've heard of "steemstock" they're planning to do in the US? maybe we could have one in Europe too

that sounds like a lot of fun!

am not sure if i read it from @papa-pepper's post..or maybe he knows about it??

@fyrstikken, I had that sport Walkman. Sorry about the band, but the music never dies.

True, the music stays forever.

Why do all good things come to an end?

Me too. This was a good tribute post.

thank you bro, what is your favorite - or one of your favorite bands?

A lot of my youth was immersed in the Hip Hop Culture of the 80's and early 90's so I went to many concerts like Public Enemy, BDP (boogie Down Productions), RUN-DMC, the Beastie Boys, and more.

One epic tour had RUN-DMC, the Beasties and Public Enemy all on tour together, it was called the Together Forever tour. It was pretty epic.

It was nice hearing from you, have a good week!

I was the same over Take That then they came back woohoo :)

lol, "Take That" was huge :) but they did not stick together very long

Nope and now there's only 3. I do miss Jason lol

.

are you having a good moment? :D

I remember waving lighters, now it's cell phones.

so true, I totally had forgotten about that change but now that you mention it.

I agree with you on this one Big Guy...So many great songs from Roxette:)

A true hit-factory to be honest.
I wonder what their last songs will be, and when we get to hear them.

Great tribute post by you. Very sincere.

The band sure did have some good hits. And I had the same Walkman LOL. A lot of us did!

Great walkman :) You knew the batteries were powering down if the song started playing sloooower :D

My replies and comments are being targeted and watched and flagged all over the place by the asshole account! @timcliff @dantheman @ned @donkeypong @jamesc

looks like @asshole is flagging everything now, just upvote yourself to counter his vote-power, it is only 1%

DV main posts was one thing --- but DV a lot of people's replies suppresses community engagement on the blog threads. I am not a dev or IT guys but this kind of thing needs to go.

It forces us to have to work more and UV our own comments and that is ridiculous. Go back thru your comments you make etc.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! So trueeeeeeeeee.......

lol

yes @fyrstikken, especially with a band he likes, whatever will be done very pleased, nice post friend

Thanks bro, great comment

You are welcome,

No way.... Classic Hits!

totally classic hits indeed
