Ruan Liangming - The Bee Man
This Chinese man is a human beehive, but no, not the Beyoncé-fan kind of Beyhive. (I told you there’d be a music reference!)
His name is Ruan Liangming, and he’s made quite a buzz by breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest time spent being covered in bees. He was able to cover himself in a blanket of bees weighing more than 60 kilos for 53 minutes and 34 seconds!
In case you’re wondering, this stunt called “Bee Bearding” is an actual thing that people do, usually in agricultural shows. It’s done by trapping a queen bee somewhere in your body so that the other worker bees will swarm around you. If you’re interested to try it—although we highly suggest you shouldn’t—Liangming’s piece of advice is to remain calm and steady so as not to agitate the bees.
Up next is a story of redemption like no other.
