Happy Monday everyone! Rubies happen to be one of my favorite Gemstone so I thought I would share a bit of information with everyone in the steemit community!
Ruby is named for its red color originally called Ruber in Latin. In the 1800's it was discovered that Rubies were part of a species called Corundum. Rubies are the hardest mineral after Diamonds, inclusions in Rubies are not necessarily an indicator of lower quality, but help determine real rubies from created ones. Rubies come in many shades of color from light pink to deep red. Below I have posted one of the more common grading charts for Rubies. Ruby deposits have been found all over the world, including in Myanmar (formerly Burma), Africa, Australia and the US. The majority of rubies for sale originate from Myanmar, Thailand and other places in Asia.
