🏉 Aviva Premiership Rugby - Alex Lewington set to move to Premiership rivals!

in rugby •  7 years ago

According to multiple sources, London Irish wing Alex Lewington has agreed on a move to North-London club Saracens at the end of the season.

A product of the Leicester Tigers academy, Lewington joined Irish in 2013 and has quickly become a fan favourite at the Madejski.

The 26-year-old was included in the England training squad in 2016, but rumours were that Eddie Jones and the other coaching staff in the England setup were not overly pleased by his defensive performances. His decision to join the reigning European Champions, and link up with world-class defense coach Alex Sanderson would no doubt help his England cause greatly.

The move is set to unsettle Nathan Earle, currently playing for Saracens, and Lewington will be battling against the likes of Wales international Liam Williams, Sean Maitland and Chris Wyles for places - with Mike Ellery expected to retire/leave at the end of this playing season.

The signing of Lewington is expected to be announced in the new year!
