Manchester United have been linked with a move for Bryan Cristante as a potential replacement for Marouane Fellaini, who is out of contract in the summer.
Atletico Madrid are also said to be interested in signing the Benfica midfielder, who is currently on loan with Italian side Atalanta.
Spanish outlet Don Balon claim United have muscled in on Atletico’s deal and have made a bid for the 22-year-old this week.
The report says the Red Devil’s offer is higher and has put a halt to Cristante’s proposed move to the Wanda Metropolitano.
We have already dealt with the conversation with the Percassi family [Atalanta owners] now he is an international player.
“”How much? It is not the time to talk about value and numbers, these are considerations that will make take time.
“I have to evaluate the path that Bryan must do, with clubs capable of enhancing him and the right coaches. We'll make the numbers known when the time comes.”
It looks likely Cristante could be on his way to United after he talked up a move to the Premier League last month.
